Accessibility
1. Our Goal
Reloways exists so that people arriving in a new country can find information they can actually use. That only works if everyone can reach it. Our goal is for this site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
2. Where We Actually Are
We are working towards that goal and we have not reached it yet. We have not completed a full independent audit, so we do not claim conformance. We would rather tell you where we stand than publish a badge we cannot back up.
What already holds:
- Pages declare their language and direction, and the site is built right-to-left first for Hebrew rather than mirrored as an afterthought.
- Semantic page structure with a main landmark on every page.
- We write alternative text for images.
- We build for keyboard access, and buttons show a visible focus ring. We have not yet walked every screen by keyboard to confirm it.
- Some animations respect the operating system "reduce motion" setting.
3. Known Gaps We Are Working On
Found in our own review on 23 August 2026. This list is real, not a placeholder, and we update it as items are fixed and as new ones are found.
- No skip-to-content link. Keyboard and screen reader users have to pass through the navigation on every page. (WCAG 2.4.1)
- Heading levels skip. On some pages the heading order jumps a level, which makes the page outline harder to navigate by headings. (WCAG 1.3.1)
- Some controls have no accessible name. A small number of icon-only buttons are announced without a label. (WCAG 4.1.2)
- Some form fields have no associated label, including the newsletter email field. (WCAG 3.3.2)
- Reduced-motion support is partial, applied in some components rather than systematically. (WCAG 2.3.3)
- Colour contrast is now measured on some pages, not all of them. On 24 August 2026 we measured it properly for the first time. It found that the text on our green buttons sat at 2.28:1 where the standard asks for 4.5:1, along with three smaller shortfalls on the founder page. All of those are fixed. The rest of the site has still not been measured page by page. (WCAG 1.4.3)
- Buttons had no visible keyboard focus ring. Found and fixed on 24 August 2026. If you navigate by keyboard and still find somewhere that does not show you where you are, please tell us. (WCAG 2.4.7)
4. If Something Blocks You
Write to amir@reloways.com and tell us what you hit and what you were trying to do. We treat accessibility reports as bugs, not as suggestions. If you need information from a page you cannot use, say so and we will send you the content directly while we fix the page.
5. Legal Position
Reloways is operated by a sole trader and is very likely a micro-enterprise for the purposes of the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG), which would exempt it. We are publishing this statement anyway, because the exemption is about our size and accessibility is about our readers.
